Hello from Jean-Louis and Jacqui from Isle France.
Since tubing welding in august, whe had a lot of thing to do out:
flea markets, old motorbikes swap meetings(preferably at the sea
side!!) The two back wheells was bought 25$ including 2 news rims.
the beautifuls Mafac racer back brakes are a retired bikes repairer
present. Noisy but light and efficients. The seat covers are made
from childrens sand place protector(against dog shits and leaves)
I taked all Jean Louis accessories to the iron container(the remains
of stolen bikes that gardeners founds in Limoges 's public gardens)
Whe used 2 childrens mountain bikes forks. On my bike i make the
handle bar extention with a frame saddle tube upside down. The
derailleurs and up to date levers was bought for nothing in a
flee market with the alu handlebar.
First impression from Jean Louis, who ride his bikes 10 km every
day going to drive trains:very efficient in any conditions!! My
impression is that i have to do some training for myself!! but
this bike is pleasant after you loose the tendency to hang you
at the handlebar!!My legs are shorts and at the start i had tendency
to put my feets in the front wheel!!I want to bent a little bit
backward the fork on the hydraulique press.I had to turn grooves
on both chain iddlers because the chain refused to stay on.For
make the grooves on the rubber with a lathe it's better to put
the iddlers in a freezer during 4 hours.
For anecdote my lathe is an american 1880 Star(drive originaly
by a pedal!)whe 'll have probably to built one or two more for
our respectives daugthers. Some more pics after painting(red, because
the remaining of one motorbike restauration!) whe are only 3 on
the county using recumbents.
Amicalement,
Jacqui + Jean Louis
P.S. I made a lot of idiots things on Amicale limousine de motos
anciennes site on Google First pic Jean louis making demonstration(remark
custom shoes for hot weather!)He is (like me!) a convainc ecologist
and taped all our tubes with wooden taps he had turn on his wood
lathe!!

Dom, here is my finished bike. I got the fully welded frame
from you. I bought all of the components from Power On Cycling.
They were very helpful with good recommendations. I elected to
get front gears of 42/32/22. That has worked very well, and I
have used the lowest gears on hills. I painted it with spray cans
of Rust-Oleum. It took me about 2 months to finish after picking
up the frame.
Everything was purchased new, and the final cost was $1,006. I
find it very comfortable to ride, and especially like looking
forward and seeing the scenery rather than looking at the ground.
Thanks for a great frame, a great plan, and a great bike.
